The GIGANTIC Litter Box

When the kids were small we had them share three litter box but some people (namely Alexander and Victoria II) doesn't know how to do their job properly, every time there would be litter sand all around the bathroom making it difficult for us to clean. Gabby to would sometime do her thing outside the box because it had somehow become to small for her.

It's 1/4 the Size of the Bathroom

So as a solution, we bought a really GIGANTIC litter box, not from the pet shop (they don't have this kind, really) but from the local plastic-ware shop near KL zoo. It has costs us RM70 and everyone now shares this huge poo-poo box happily ever after.

I wonder if they get any bigger (not impossible especially for Napoleon) would we need to build a pool-sized litter box in the batroom instead?

Constantine...A FEMALE!!!

Ok, setelah sekian lama delay nak hantar si Constantine sunat, finally last Saturday, me and Syah went to DBKL Vet kat Setapak. Setelah semalaman dikurung dalam bilik reading, si Constantine nih mesti pelik tetiba kena bawak keluar. Tak pernah keluar rumah la katakan..Setibanya di vet tuh, kitorang drop Constantine dan pergi breakfast kat Jusco.

Dalam pukul 12.00, we went back to the vet to pick up si kecik nih. Tiba2, the doctor tuh bagitau yang si Constantine nih rupanya female.. Hehehehe.. Terkejut kejap. Mana taknya, amik masa kecik tak nampak apa2 pun lagik, then bila dia besar sket, dah penuh bulu tutup satu badan. Tapi takpa, Constantine tetap menjadi antara kucing kesayangan kami. So, bila dah bawak balik, since dia kena bius, masa utk amik gambo la.. Hehehehehe...

Constantine - A Lady?!!??

We have over a year thought and treated our youngest Constantine as a boy but when we took him (her) to the DBKL - SPCA Neuter Clinic in Setapak recently we were told that he (she) is indeed a LADY!

We were both surprised but it is rather too late to make any changes to her name so Ayah had dubbed her as Miss Constantine or simple Che Constantine in Malay. Wakakak we have another daughter eh? Well, don;t blame it on us, Abah though he saw a pair of testicles when Miss Constantine was a kitten and now, being that furry, no one could actually see what's underneath the coat of thick persian fur.

Sorry girl for mistreating you as a different gender hehehe...

Got this fact sheet from the DBKL - SPCA's Neuter clinic recently. Would love to share this with pet owners wherever you are. It is indeed very important to control the pet population, otherwise we'll keep seeing stray cats and dogs being discarded like garbage and end up in foodcourts around us. When they are stray, they are exposed to many health threats and the danger of being run over by cars. Pity these animals.

If my pet is spayed/neutered...

Myth: My pet will get fat an

d lazy.

Fact: The truth is that most pets get fat and lazy because their owners feed them too much and don't give them enough exercise.

Myth: It's better to have one little first.

Fact: Medical evidance indicates just the opposite. In fact, the evidence shows that females spayed before their first heat are typically healthier. Many veterinarians now sterilize dogs and cats as young as eight weeks of age. Do check with your vet for the appropriate time for these procedures.

Myth: My children should experience the miracle of brith.

Fact: Even if children are able to see a oet give birth - which is unlikely, since it usually occurs at night and in seclusion - the lesson they will really learn is that animals can be created and discarded as it suits adults. Instead, it should be explained to them that the real miracle is life and that preventing the birth of some pets can save the lives of others.

Myth: I want my dog to be protective.

Fact: Spaying or neitering does not affect a dog's natural instinct to protect home and family. A dog's personality is formed more by genetics and environment than by sex hormones.

Myth: I don't want my male dog or cat to feel less of a male.

Fact: Pets don't have any concept of sexual identity or ego. Neutering will not change a pet's basic personality. He doesn't suffer any kind of emotional reaction or identity crisis when neutered.

Myth: But my dog (or cat) is so special. I want a puppy (or kitten) just like her.

Fact: A dog or cat may be a great pet but that doesn't mean her offspring will be a carbon copy. Professional animal breeders who follow generations of bloodlines can;t guarantee they will get just what they want out of a particular litter. A pet owner's chances are even slimmer. In fact, an entire litter of puppies or kittens might receive all of a pet's (and her mate's) worst characteristics.

Myth: I'll find a good home for all the puppies and kittens.

Fact: You may find homes for all of your pet's litter but each home you find means one less home for the dogs and cats in shelters whp need good homes. Also, in less than one year's time, each of your pet's offspring may have his or her own litter, adding even more animals to the population. The problem of pet overpopulation is created and perpetuated one litter ata time.

So, think about neutering or spaying your cats and dogs. All you have to do is love them till their last breath and protect them with whatever you have. We are proud to say that all our seven children are neutered and spayed.

They could be seen sleeping in the basket (even when the fruits were still in the basket!) throughout the day. Happy Eid Mubarak to all Muslims all around the world. Sorry for not updating this blog for the longest time as Abah and Ayah just came back from performing Umrah. The kids are fine and are as healthy and playful as ever.

Our Cute Little Paws

Our first darling was Sidney (Sid) whom we adopted from the local SPCA in April 2006. This was the starting point to more cute little paws being adopted into our household. Although we both came from families that value and love the presence of cats, we have never though of actually sharing our small condo unit with any of them, that is, not until Sidney came into our lives.

Sidney was a local breed. It was a case of love at first sight when one day we decided to drop by at SPCA and saw him in one of the cages staring at us promising undivided love and attention. Our decision to adopt him had changed our lives forever. Sidney was indeed the best behaving cat we’ve ever had. He was playful yet obedient and adapted quickly to his new home. He was our daily alarm clock and would wake us up at seven in the morning to feed him. Sidney would already be waiting for us at the door in the evenings demanding for attention. Sometimes we even took him to the office but most of time Sidney had to be left alone at home. Realizing that he may be lonely, we were slapped with the idea of adopting a companion for Sidney – well, one could never be enough!

Two months after adopting Sidney we returned to SPCA to look for his companion and fell in love with a skinny mixed Persian. We took her home and named her Gabrielle (Gabby). It was quite difficult for Gabriele to adapt to the new indoor living and managed to escape twice through the bathroom window. She was not so friendly to Sidney either and had defied our purpose of getting her as the boy’s companion. To our dismay, it was like Gabby had known that there was no point being friendly to Sidney as we soon discovered him to be infected with FeLV and FIP.

Sidney fell terribly ill after that and we had to separate him from Gabrielle fearing infection. We decided to send Sidney to our parent’s home to be nursed by our younger brother. However, during Sidney’s last couple of weeks at our home, Gabrielle had shown a turn of attitude and started showing affection towards Sidney It was a motherly affection. She would spend endless time grooming Sidney, making sure that he was looking his best.

We were both devastated looking at Sidney’s condition and visited him every other day when he was in my brother’s care. We had to clean and disinfect the house with Clorox so that Gabrielle would be safe – we were worried as she had been attending to the boy two weeks prior. We were advised by our vet not to take in more cats or let any cat into the house for that matter for at least six months. Sidney had to be fed with liquid diet and had to be force-fed using a syringe and a plastic tube.

Soon as if it was fate’s calling, Amir came across a newspaper article calling for pet adoption by a pet rescue group called the Independent Pet Rescuers (IPR). We were immediately called to find out about the programme and even though the vet had advised us not to have anymore cats for the time being, we couldn’t resist the urge. Moreover Gabrielle was alone and needed a companion.

Two months old Troy was adopted from the IPR while Sidney was still around fighting for his life. We lost a friend in this process and were accused of purposely exposing an innocent kitten to FIP and FeLV. We were stubborn, yes, but we had great faith in God. When Troy arrived, Gabrielle was the happiest creature on earth and had loved him dearly. She took care of Troy like she did with Sidney. The couple would run around the house like nobody’s business. We were glad to see that both of them were happy and healthy.

Sidney left us to Rainbow Bridge on 28th June 2006 after a month of struggling and suffering. He did not get to live to be even one year old. We bid him farewell in a little funeral at our father’s backyard.

We were soon convinced that it was okay to have more kids around. About a month after Troy we returned to the IPR’s weekly road show at Hartamas in KL. We have always wanted a black cat and there was a really cute kitten named Tina with a pair of smashing blue eyes. She was about a month old and soon after taking her home we discovered that Tina was actually a male - so we named him Hercules. Together with Hercules we also adopted a three year old female cat that we named Isabelle. We now then had four cute little paws sharing our cute little home.

Our home immediately became a battlefield. There was no point laying rugs around the house or having ornaments on top of the cabinets like before. It took a great deal of sacrifice losing the things we loved, seeing them shattered into pieces because the boys (Hercules and Troy) were at their peak of growing and was really mischievous. Our sofa had become a favourite scratching post for Hercules and the Piano, Gabrielle’s sleeping place. Isabelle would always either be on the fridge or on top of the kitchen cabinet. At one point we even had to breathe the same air as the kids’ and their litter pan as our eighth storey unit had no grills installed. Fearing they would run around and jump over the open window, we decided to have them closed at all times. Later we installed shutters on our windows and got rid of the curtains so that we could have the windows opened and breathe fresh air once again. We even had to decide a ‘No Fur Zone’ in our rooms but the kids are free to roam around the rest of the house.

On the night of Malaysia’s 49th Independence, we found Troy lying on his bed looking weak and miserable. Amir took him onto his lap and Troy opened his eyes for the last time, coughed, choked, threw-up and then he was gone. We were terribly shocked witnessing his death right in front of our eyes. How could two kids left us in less than three months? Troy was so alive and kicking the night before and he was still when we left him with his brother and sisters that very morning. Was the vet right after all? Was our friend’s accusation of us true? This second death killed us both.

During Troy’s last few weeks with us, he started having this really peculiar habit of nibbling on our earlobes. He would come to us when we were watching TV or at any opportunity he had, he’d come to be near our ears. Soon it had become a must for him to nibble on one of our ears – so we took turn sacrificing our earlobes for our dear son. The cause of Troy’s death remains unknown until now. He too was buried at our father’s backyard beside Sidney’s grave.

The other kids sensed Troy's absence, especially Gabrielle and Hercules. Isabelle on the other hand has always been a loner. She would be minding her own business and not mix with the other kids. She however seeks affection from her fathers demanding to be touched and pampered whenever there’s a chance. She would wait for us to pat or stroke her and until she gets what she wants Isabelle would not move and remain at that same spot like a statue. Whenever we indulge in pampering her, she would remind us to continue stroking if ever we stop for a breather by patting us on our hands using her furry paw.

Over time, our kids didn’t just grow in size but in number. We took in another hero that we named Alexander. He was adopted from PAWS on the 18th of August 2006, less than a month before Troy died. Alexander was four months old when we took him home and has Gabrielle’s resemblance. They both turn out to be best friends thereafter. Gabrielle continued to play the big sister’s role with Troy, Hercules and Alexander. Alexander spent his first night in Syah’s room and was hiding under the sofa the whole of next day. Troy and Hercules were excited to see the arrival of another boy and wanted to play with him but he was too scared and shy to befriend them just yet.

On 10th September 2006 we visited SPCA again just to fulfill our cravings to be with more cats - well, this has become a part of our occasional visit to catteries such as SPCA, PAWS or sometimes to IPR's road show on Saturdays. Syah used to have a British-blue coloured cat named Victoria during his school days. The moment he saw one similar looking cat at SPCA that day, he made no further delay adopting her. She was named Vitoria the Second (Vicky). We got to know from the keeper at SPCA that Victoria was surrendered by her previous owner because she was too playful and liked to bite anyone who was near. She has been fine with us with of course occasional friendly and playful bites whenever she wanted some affection and attention from us. Victoria likes to sleep on our laps when we’re watching TV. She is known to be very photogenic and loves posing for the camera but could be very shy to unfamiliar faces (or scents).

Napoleon is also known as PO (the Kung Fu Panda) because of his colour, size and Chinese look (and of course his appetite) was adopted from Amir’s neighbour in Shah Alam. He has been a subject of interest for quite sometime when one day Amir brought him home as the owner had agreed to let us have him. Napoleon had to be kept in a cage for two weeks as he had problems adjusting to the litter pan. Napoleon likes to play with water and he wouldn’t for any reason (other than food) miss being at the sink whenever we are washing the dishes. He would just sit and very fascinatingly look at the stream of water coming out from the tap. Napoleon often becomes the victim to Syah’s bullying him but he would patiently let his father do as he likes. He would be made to dance on his hind legs and Syah at times would be teaching him the ABC and singing to him nursery rhymes!

Constantine came into our lives when an office mate had kittens for adoption. So, having the idea of giving Syah who was currently outstation in Langkawi a surprise, Amir took him home but went on a detour to the airport – what a log journey for our three weeks old Constantine. Syah was of course pleasantly surprised as we had earlier on agreed to stop at six but now we suddenly have seven of them little paws. We had a good experience taking care of this little boy, bottle-feeding him with milk and litter-training him was indeed a wonderful experience for us. Looking at him now, we are always awed at how much he has changed, except for his fascination towards plastic bags. Constantine was a noisy fella when he was small but now at over one, he is pretty quiet but very inquisitive in nature. He would be anywhere near new things sniffing, trying to figure out what the thing is.

We have had cats living with us in this small condo unit for over two years now and looking at them play and witnessing them grow from a kitten to an adult cat has indeed been a treasure that no one else would experience other than us cat lovers.

Our message to dear readers of Pets Lover magazine, if you cannot adopt a cat into your home for whatever reason, do spend some time volunteering at the catteries. You would be doing these creatures a very huge favour even by going there and spending a little time with them, stroking their backs, talking to them like you do with other humans. Believe me, they would remember you and appreciate your effort. Make it a habit to keep some packet cat food (dry or wet) in your glove compartment or bag and feed strays whenever you find one. It wouldn’t harm your pocket if you spend a few Ringgit on them. No matter how ugly or dirty these strays may appear to you, it is the love they are able to share that matters the most. Better still, take them home and make them a part of your family – they’re free-of-charge!

We were approached by a new pet magazine called the Pets Lover for a photography session with the kids at home recently. They have found us from the SPCA website and are promoting the idea of adopting cats. Since all of our kids were adopted - none we bought really, we were requested to appear on the mag for their August issue.

A Weekend Visit to SPCA

It has been our favourite weekend activity to visit the cats at SPCA. When we were working at Bandar Baru Kelang last 2 years, we made it a point to spend some time with the cats at least once a week since PAWS was nearby. Nope, we didn't do any cleaning or grooming work with the cats, just spending some time with them, stroking, talking and appreciating their presence. If you have been to either SPCA or PAWS, you'll know that cats here are not all the time persians and beautiful looking, they are usually strays who need loving homes for shelter. However, if you're lucky enough you'll get a really elegant cat but it shouldn't be about beauty but kindness towards animals.

These places were where we ended up adopting five of our ten lovely kids and we are glad we did that as they have made our lives more meaningful. From the ten kids (including two that has passed away) one was from PAWS (Alexander), four were from SPCA (Gabrielle,Victoria II, the late Victoria I and the late Sidney) while the rest were from the Independent Pet Rescuers (Hercules, Isabelle and the late Troy) and one from a back alleys in Shah Alam (Napoleon) Only one of them was purchased from a breeder (Constantine).

So last weekend we went to SPCA in Ampang after breakfast at our favourite weekend breakfast place - Mak Jah Stall just beside SPCA. There were many adorable cats for adoption as SPCA was having an adoptioon campaign. So, if you are a cat lover, and stil have some space to fit in a loving creature in your home, do visit these cats at SPCA or PAWS. If you love dogs too, I'm sure you'll find one that you'll fall in love with. Of course nothing comes free but what you're paying for is for the spaying or neutering service to deter them from over-populating thus causing more strays to be left without love and care.

Of course, if you could even adopt a stray from the streets or the food courts, it would still be
a noble act and doing these cats a huge favor. May God bless all of you.

Once in a while we would let the kids out to the pathetic little 'garden' we have at the entrance of our apartment. There aren't many plants there but enough to attract their attention. Gabby would usually be the one sneaking out to this little 'garden' every time we open the front door. Napoleon too loves to play with the plants.

Pet World Malaysia 2008

We were at the Pet World Malaysia 2008 exhibition at the Midvalley MVEC Exhibition Centre, Kuala Lumpur recently. Apart from cats shows, there were many pet shops selling pet products from fur care to pet food to pet adoption booths by SPCA and PAWS. We took advantage of the sample given out (hehehehe) and the Iams offer they had there. We bought the 15kgs bag at a cheaper price than usual and got a free Eukanuba 15Kgs purple-coloured bins. We wanted to exchange the points we accumulated from previous Iams purchase but couldn't find anything interesting. So we decided to continue accumulating points so that we could get another play tunnel for the kids at home. Imagine combining the two tunnels together? We're sure it would be exciting for the kids.

Ayah took some pictures of the cat show and cats for sale using his brand new Sony DSLR while Abah was busy collecting food samples giveaway from the counters. It was worth it.

The Growler

The last time we heard contantine's meow was when he was a baby. He was really noisy then. But now, he only growls. Does he think he's a dog? Really, never had we once heard him meow anymore. Abah thought Constantine had lost his hearing so he may not be able to learn or remember to meow but Ayah proved me wrong yesterday morning during breakfast. Constantine came when called.

So what's with Constantine and his constant growl? Well, perhaps he just prefers not to meow and make lots of noise like his brothers; Hercules, Alexander and Napoleon. Or perhaps he really thinks he's a dog! What's most important to us is that Constantine, at 8 months old now grows to be a healthy, strong man, whether he meows or growls, it doesn't really matter.

Healthy relationships that go a long way

Here's another tip obtained from Pets Corner for those with or planning to have a pet, whether it's a dog or a cat.

The canines and felines of the world are happiest when their owners return from work and spend a few hours with them. Tails go wagging in dogs while cats get all affectionate and start nuzzling at your ankles. The purring sounds made by cats will make any owner glad he or she's home. Some owners will proudly say their pets even wait for them patiently at the door for their safe return.

Toys are good for pets

The amount of joys you can derive from pets is numerous. How can we repay them? Toys make a big difference for most cats. Depending on their age, woolly balls and cat toys are very exciting to curious felines and they could spend endless hours playing with them. Some kittens can be quite gregarious and enjoy ‘fetching' just like dogs, only difference is they don't bring it to you.

Owning dogs can be very therapeutic for many since dogs just love jumping on you and showering you with kisses as a sign of welcome. Some can even go overboard with their affections and knock you off-balance.

Playtime

Kittens have their fair share of fun. I know of a kitten that actually sits in the laundry basket knowing full well that her mistress is going downstairs to dry the clothes. The kitten is so clever it will actually jump into the basket that is filled with damp clothes and wait patiently. As soon as the mistress puts the basket down, it will jump out and start all her childish pranks such as catching the owner's ankle when they move, hopping on the grass and so on.

A pet owner indeed has the finer bits to any story and this may be one reason why most owners are filled with so much joy from all their rendezvous with their adorable pets and even regard them as their ‘darling daughter' or ‘son'!

Anyway if you'd like kitty to play in a certain area such as the scratch post, you can use the herbal form of ‘cat-nip' to attract them. It can be placed inside a sachet or small cloth to attract cats to that area. It contains pure natural catnip herb and cats find it irresistible and they will start playing near those areas.

Dogs wait anxiously to play ‘fetch', some even love to play their kind of football and any game that involves the master is considered an added ‘bones' (bonus).

All pets can be trained and molded to become loyal and perfect companions for man. We must exercise lots of patience and realize that when dogs are placed in kennels first of all they are bored.

An Evening with the Kids

This is a usual every day scene when it's time for Ayah to feed the kids canned food in the evenings. A large can is shared by 5 of them (Gabrielle and Victoria II do not fancy canned food) so everyone gets a fair share in their own individual bowls. This is the time when the house is noisiest (as you can witness in the video) and when we can see Isabelle actually running around (otherwise she would just sit still and sleep) from the kitchen to their room. Wet food is not served in the kitchen like their kibbles as Hercules would make a terrible mess playing with his food. Somehow he doesn't know how to eat from his bowl but he'd have to scoop the food out and then eat it from the floor. Bad boy!

Cats Make Great Pets

Cats make wonderful companions for children and adults alike. Cats by nature, are curious creatures. They are independent and like to roam where and when they please. Ever heard of this saying, “Dogs come when they're called, but cats tell you to take a message and get back to you later”. Ask any cat lover and he or she would tell you how true that is.

Therefore, before you think of purchasing or adopting a kitten, it is indeed very important to look at all aspects of owning one as a pet. You should be prepared to care for him for his basic needs, that is food, shelter, annual check ups, vaccinations and most important of all, your time spent in building that special bond with him.

Kitten protection for your home

You don't have to discourage their curious nature, but you do have to be prepared for it. Please note the list below for your kitten's safety.

• Store all poisonous or dangerous materials in a tightly closed cabinet.
• Keep toilet lids down. Your kitten could fall in.
• Store plastic bags in a drawer where your kitty can't get to them. Kittens love to bat bags around, but they pose a threat of choking and suffocation.
• Keep household items like string, sewing supplies, rubber bands, twist-ties, etc,. away from your kitten as they can be easily swallowed.
• Electrical cords should either be tacked to the wall or wound up and bound so your kitty won't risk getting shocked.

The right start — Choosing the correct food for your kitten

• Choosing a pet food that is nutritionally balanced, without excesses or deficiencies will help avoid health problems for your cat
• It should be also fortified with vitamins and minerals including anti-oxidants for extra protection against diseases.
• Feeding the right food to your cat will help avoid adult diseases like obesity, diabetes as well as organ damage when they are older.
• There are many pet food in the market, and the choice made by you will determine the health of your cat. Do remember, however, that the transition from one pet food to another should be done gradually within a period of 7 days so that your cat will not have a tummy upset or diarrhea. Feeding too much food can also cause diarrhea in some cases.

Play areas for your kitten

It is your kitten's nature to want to scratch your furniture, your drapes, etc. But contrary to what you might think, it's not doing this only to sharpen its claws (you'll notice that even cats that have been declawed still do this). Cats usually scratch for exercise. They also scratch to mark their territory. A good way to prevent your kitten from scratching the sofa would be to provide him a scratch post that is tall enough to let your cat stretch out along its full length. Your kitten will notice and use it more and more if you put in plain sight. He will then play near it and gradually he will be drawn to the scratch post rather than the furniture. Catnip herbs are wonderful in distracting your kitten. You can place some catnip herbs in a cloth tied in a sachet and leave them near the scratch post to encourage playing in those areas. Your kitten will certainly have hours of fun.

The best person you can rely on would be your veterinarian if owning a cat is a totally new experience for you. Do ask your veterinarian's advice about the important vaccinations if you bought it from the breeder or pet shop.

If you live in an apartment or condo, it is best to make use of cat litters for a clean, hygienic environment. For those of you who allow your cat out, make sure you have some form of identification tag on her so that even if she ever gets lost, someone who finds her can trace you, her owner, easily.

However, when you expose them to the outdoors it is best to keep your eyes open since they can get into injuries. They are also susceptible to disease, fights with other animals and traffic accidents. We have all heard of tragic stories that some of our lesser fortunate pets have gone through.

Ahahah every time i look at the then pic (first photo) I would laugh my heads out. Hercules was adopted on July 1, 2006 (with Isabelle) from the IPR. When we got him, he was down with flu, was so scared and was called Tina for God knows whatever reason the IPR has. He has since a kid accompanied us when cleaning his letter tray. Now Constantine has taken over that job but Hercules still comes to watch us cleans their litter scoop - he's indeed excited to see the tap water flow and the sound of brushing. He would when we come back from work, greet us everytime without fail by patting our thighs with his two front paws. He loves to be kissed on the forehead and is an indeed a very loving brother towards Alexander and Constantine. Hercules's most obvious trait is his ears, they have outgrown him ever since he was small - ears of the Gremlins!

Alexander @ Abang Chik a.k.a Stuart Little

Alexander is the only one adopted from PAWS in Aug 2006. He was cute, used to like watching soccer with Ayah on TV and always caught sleeping in awkward positions. He was like the character Howard in the movie Benchwarmers as he spent most of his time under the sofa during his first 2 weeks at home. He then grew attached to his sister Gabby (as seen in the second photo) and until now he would now and then snuggle with her. He is also very attached to Hercules (as seen in the Now photo). Alexander is suffering from hormonal deficiency affecting his tail (used to be really bushy like Gabby's) Because of the hormone pills we're giving him, the fur on his neck gets bushy instead (see Now Photo) Of all the kids, Alexander is the most vocal but lucky for his hormonal imbalance, the voice is rather squeaky than husky - perhaps he's really Stuart Little?

Napoleon @ Fatty

Then (Dec 2006) Now (Nov 2007)

Napoleon was adopted from Ayah's neighbor in Shah Alam. From a nearly a stray (because the previous owner didn't take good care of him - his white fur was yellowish when we took him) to a well groomed eating machine. So far since we practiced closed door policy to our bedroom (no more cats are allowed inside) only Napoleon is somehow allowed to be in as he behaves well compared to the others. Napoleon would be the guard of their kibbles bowl and every time either Ayah or Abah enters the kitchen, there he would be eating. He has grown so huge that Abah calls him "Fatty Fatty Bom Bom". Napoleon would every morning bid us good bye by rushing to the door and lying down legs up not allowing us to go to work. You wont stand a chance to see Napoleon during most of the day as he would be sleeping underneath the sofa until it is time for tea.

Constantine @ Kenit

This little guy has grown from an ugly duckling to a fluffy fur ball in just a matter of months. The first photo was taken when he was about 2 weeks old, the second at 4 months and now at a matured 5 months. Constantine adopted himself well with his siblings and has become the tai koh in the house. He has taken the place of Hercules whenever Abah or Ayah cleans their litter tray in the mornings and evenings. He would sit and watch us clean his poo poo and would be the first to use the cleaned litter tray. Constantine doesn't like to be picked up and would growl (sometimes snort like an oink oink whenever he demands to be put down) Always curious, he likes to play with drinking straws and chases his tail whenever he realizes he has one. Cute!

Well, at first we though Isabelle was three when we got her but it seems she's older than that. In the Now picture, she looks older but hehehe I guess the appetite grows with her age! The Then photo was taken on her first day at home, 1st July 2006, the day we adopted her and Hercules from the IPR. Isabelle is still the quiet (except for when Ayah gives her canned food in the evenings - only then she would be see running around chasing Ayah to the kitchen) and is suffering from mouth ulcer - she has taken many rounds of injections and medications but the ulcer kept recurring. Pity her.

Gabby has surely matured from the time we adopted her from SPCA in June 2006. Her fur is well groomed now and she is indeed still the Gabbyonce (big ass) we always love and adore. Apart from scratching and destroying the wooden dining chair, she loves to sleep all day and night long. She would only wake up in the middle of the night when we have gone to bed. Gabby is real choose, she would eat unless no other cats are around and she loves to drink from the tap (just refuses to drink from the water fountain we bought especially for her) Because of Gabby, our condo unit is now like a jail house rock as we have to be careful leaving any doors or windows open - she is real clever and had escaped twice!

The reason why we adopted Victoria was because Abah wanted another child who resembles his late Victoria I. After a long search we found Vicky and fell in love with her at first sight. Even though we were quite tight in the pocket at that time, abah went to the extend of borrowing money from his auntie. So we adopted Vicky from SPCA in September 2006) When the dorr bell rings she would be the first to disappear and hide underneath the sofa and will only come out of her hiding when the guests have gone home. Vicky is now very fat that she has to use the help of things around her in order to reach and lick her back or even the area in between her thighs. Pathetic eh?

Napoleon has only recently developed this habit of sleeping in this position. I just don't know and couldn't find the answer to why cats like to sleep in this position. At first I thought it was only the males who sleep like this but I remember also seeing Gabby in the exact same position.

But whatever it is they surely look very cute and adorable sleeping will all four legs up in the air, especially my fatty Napoleon here. And he loves it when we stroke his tummy while he's lying on his back. Heheheh.

Even though Constantine is the youngest of all, he is indeed the KING of the house. Being the youngest and most playful he is truly everybody's love. At about 5 months old now, Constantine has grown to be a healthy boy waiting to ripen so that Abah and Ayah can send him for neutering. Remember our post on his arrival 5 months ago? He is now handsome with fluffy fur.

Constantine is the central attraction of his brothers Hercules. Alexander and Napoleon. He would, with them run around the house chasing God knows what (sometimes insects like I mentioned in my previous post) but most of the time just pleasure running and destructing whatever comes in between their way.

He dislikes being lifted but enjoys sitting either beside Abah or Ayah when we're watching TV sitting on the sofa. Well, we hope Constantine will grow up to be healthy, furry and most importantly friendly...

An Update on Isabelle

Of all the children, Isabelle is the most well behaved child. She's not vocal, she's mostly alone and minding her own business. She has never been seen running around when her brothers and sisters are going frantic over a moth or anything that flies around the house (we live on a hill and nearby a jungle, so they're freaky looking insects flying around sometimes resulting to the house being sadistically turned around and about leaving trails of iams kibbles around and knocking off whatever furniture that comes in between their way) but Isabelle never bothers to even barge from her favorite napping places (yes places - many) even if there's a tornado coming, she would still be lying there lazy. The only time she's seen excited is when the time comes for Ayah to feed them canned food (once a day in the evening). This is when you'd see her eyes glow with excitement and sometimes her meows can be heard. Remember the entry I wrote on Isabelle being anti-social? Perhaps it is true after all. Or maybe she is just plain lazy? Hehehe...Here's a latest picture of Isabelle.

For many people owning a pet is not just a hobby. Today, many pet owners regard their pets as part of the family. In Malaysia, some pet owners go to great lengths in caring for their pets, but then there are still a handful of owners who discard their kittens, abandon puppies and leave them in dump sites to fend for themselves at merely a day old! A few days ago we read in The Star, about the plight of some kittens and how they were saved by a very kind hearted lady. When will people stop abandoning their animals?

Being responsible for our pets by spaying or neutering them is the best way to prevent over breeding or overpopulation of cats and dogs. Every year many companion animals end up in shelters and some of them are euthanised due to sickness and space constraint.

A responsible pet owner is someone who loves his pet unconditionally and does anything and everything necessary to keep his pet happy and healthy. Responsible pet owners provide for the basic needs of their pet (food, water, grooming, medical care, etc). and lavish love and attention on them.

They protect the health, safety and happiness of their pet, as well as that of their neighbors and their community.

Responsible owners train their pets wherever possible and prevent their pets from roaming since pets face many dangers (cars, other animals and disease) and may cause problems such as biting, breeding and destroying property. Responsible pet owners keep their pets inside or control their pets with a fence, a run or a leash at all times. If their pet is ever lost, a permanent identification tattoo, tag or microchip will help them return home quickly and safely. You should also keep a current photo and current record of your dog's age, weight, height and markings. The decision to buy a pet is a big one and the commitment to care for a pet properly is even bigger. Before you buy or adopt a pet you must be 110% ready to honor that commitment and responsibility for your pet's entire life.

The vaccinations and visit to the veterinarian must not be overlooked either. Dogs and cats are susceptible to heart worms, and internal parasites such as intestinal roundworms, hookworms, and tapeworms. For your information heart worms are carried by mosquitoes, and this disease can be fatal. Your veterinarian will recommend a prevention program for your pet. Don't forget the external parasites too such as fleas and ticks.

A survey carried out in the United States showed that a majority of American households (57% have dogs, cats or both pets in residence, but virtually everyone-more than nine in ten –considers his or her pet a member of the family. Here's some other interesting facts about pet ownership in the U.S.

1. Americans spend about $5 billion on holiday presents for their furry friends.

2. 63% of dog owners and 58% of cat owners surveyed said they give their pets presents at Christmas.

3. 40% of dog owners and 37% of cat owners hang Christmas stockings for their pets.

4. 36% of dog owners give their pets presents on their birthday, as do 20% of cat owners.

5. About one-fourth of dog owners (27%) and cat owners (23%) sign their pet's name on greeting cards or notes.

6. 64% of surveyed pet owners said they include news about their pet, and 36% include a photograph in their holiday cards.

7. About 27% of pet owners claim to have taken their pet to a professional photographer to have a picture taken with family, Santa Claus or the Easter bunny.

8. About one-third (37%) of dog owners and a similar proportion of cat owners (31% have their pet's picture prominently displayed in their homes, and 14 and 10% respectively, display it at their place of work.

9. About 10% of dog and cat owners carry their pet's picture in their wallet or purse.

10. In about 20% of households containing a dog or cat, the owner leaves the TV, radio or stereo on when the animal is left alone, presumably so it won't become lonely.

11. 16% of dog owners and 14% of cat owners claim to have bought a car or home with a pet in mind.

12. In 70% of feline households, cats are allowed to lie on the furniture. In 40% of canine households, dogs are allowed to do so.

13. In 65% of cat-owning households, cats are permitted to sleep at night on some family member's bed vs. 39% of dogs.

14. 45% of pet owners set up a special bed for their pet in the house.

15. In 75% of the nation's dog-owning households, the dog is treated to rides in the family car vs 38% of households with cats.

16. In one-third (34%) of households surveyed, the dog goes along on family vacations, whereas only 11% of respondents take the cat along.

17. 25% of the pet owners surveyed said they blow dry their pet's hair after a bath.

18. When a pet dies, 58% of pet owners bury the pet on their property.

19. Almost half of the pet owners surveyed admit they sometimes talk to their pet. And 80% of those people stated that on those occasions, the animal seemed to respond by means of sounds, facial expressions or body language.

It is good that this trend is gradually catching up in Malaysia. However, about 80 % of pet owners still feed their pets table scraps eg. leftovers, bones, and even raw meat! Feeding unbalanced food is detrimental to a pet's health as even pets need vitamins and minerals to stay healthy.

Many pet owners here are still unaware of the health related issues and preventive care programs such as vaccinations and annual check ups for their pets. All those who have acquired a new puppy or kitten should take their pet for an examination to the nearest veterinary clinic to ensure the health and safety of the pet.

We hope people's attitude will change and pets are looked after with as much love and care as possible. After all, for all the love they shower upon us, they certainly deserve much more.

Let us all work towards a more responsible and animal loving society for the benefit of all our feline and canine companions who share our world.

All About the Kids Growing Up

There is nothing much happening lately. I've been busy with work, life and relationship. Anyway, since I have the spare time at the office, just would like to update on the blog. I have been keeping myself quiet from taking photos of the kids lately. Why? Maybe it's Raya and I'm a bit occupied with my responsibilities but I've managed to capture a few photos a couple of days back. And what surprised me is that all the kids have grown healthily.. VERY HEALTHILY indeed.. Hahahaha..

Gabby is now spending more time sleeping. Seriously! You won't ever notice her playing around. She will not move from her spot and could be there sleeping for a whole day, or even two! The only time she wakes up is to eat or do her 'thingy'. Then.. back to sleeping...

Hercules, as usual will be the noisiest amongst all. But he's a very good and obedient boy. Whenever he's making noise, it means that either he's hungry or wants some attention. Usually, it will be the attention. The only way to keep him quiet (for a while, that is) is to kiss him on the forehead. That'll do it.

Alexander is turning to be a wolf! The fur on his neck is thickening. Wonder if the hormone pills that we were giving him is acting on the wrong place - his neck! The tail is still the same - hormone deprived. Hopefully he can be as hairy as his sister, Gabby soon. It would make him a very handsome boy.

Victoria is having a problem with her fur. They're shedding. We want to take her to the vet but she will have to wait for the time being. Hang in there ya gurl! BTW, this is not her latest photo as it hard to get her to pose lately. She spents most of her time under the sofa. So, it's hard to gget a glimpse of her around.

Isabelle, the usual routine.. Eat, sleep, eat, drool all over the house; sofa, wall, cushions, eat, sleep and the list goes on.. Hehehehe.. That's our Isabelle.

Napoleon... Hmmm.. What can I say. He's sooo fat now.. Abah's calling him "Fatty".. Hehehe.. Don't blame him la.. He likes to eat. From a stray cat, we'd never thought he could be so fat but lovable and manja guy. Oh, and he will not allow us to go out everytime. He will block the door and refuse to barge. Hahahaha... Very clever fatty bom bom!

And lastly, Constantine... OMG, this guy is sooo berlagak and garang (stuck up and fierce). He never likes people to lift or cuddle with him. He will growl and retaliate. A gangster in the making. But, he grows up very well. Hehehe.. And lately, we notice that he likes to sleep with his big bro, Hercules. Way to go Hercules!

So there they are, seven wonderful kids we have at home. May they be healthy and happy always.

Abah Writing from the Hospital.

I am writing from the hospital bed on the 6^th night being away from my kids at home. I really miss Isabelle, Gabbrielle, Victoria, Hercules, Alexander, Napoleon and Constantine. Since I’ve only got my hands on the laptop today after Ayah sent it to me at the hospital (Thanks Ayah) I waited no longer to express my longing for the cute little paws.

Dear Ayah,

thanks very much for taking care of the furballs while I am gone. I owe you. I trust you with the kids as I know how much you really love them. I also know that no matter what happens to me, no matter when, be it now, tomorrow, sooner or later, I can depend on you to take very good care of the kids. Do love and care for them. They need you and they know they can rely on you no matter what. I rather them to be in your care than anyone else’s.

Dear Kids,

Behave and look after each other. Don't bully Ayah OK? I hope you haven’t forgotten me after I’m gone for this long 'vacation' in the hospital. I am not sure how long more I’ll be gone but I assure you guys I am, and will be okay and up and running soon. I’ve dreamt of all of you at home just this morning and I have been trying to recall the dream over and over again because I miss you all dearly. Thanks to Ayah who keeps sending me photos of you playing at home, you guys surely look like you’re very naughty and bullying Ayah ya? And thank you for the lovely card with your paw prints on it - they're really sweet.

If you didn’t realize, I was not well during Aidilfitri when Ayah was away at his hometime. I’m sure you could see me locking myself in the room and not playing with you outside. I am really sorry as that was not my intention. I tried my best to take care of your needs until Ayah gets back. Especially sorry to Hercules and Constantine for not going out to buy your fresh milk. I could see it in your eyes how you wanted it whenever I am out of the room for a glass of water – sorry dear but I wasn’t able to drive.

Thank God that I am OK now, although not fully recovered but miraculously with two recent cerebellar stroke attacks I am still able to move my hands. I am sure God has His reasons to still allow me to stroke you and take care of all of you. I promise I will do just that till my last breath.

I can’t wait to be back for us to be a family again. I want to spend hours and hours with you kids. How I miss your purring, you massage when I need one, and of course, the tender loving and care you provide. I just wished they’d allow you in here so that Ayah could bring all of you to visit me but how unfortunate that is impossible,

I am counting days to be home so that we could be reunited as a family once more. Do wait for me kids and most important of all, do not forget me as I will never forget all of you; Isabelle, Gabrielle, Victoria, Hercules, Alexander, Napoleon and Constantine.

Cat Litter Tips

Got these useful Cat Litter Tips from Petscorner. Thought of sharing with you guys:

Do not place the cat litterbox in a busy spot in your house. Indeed, your cat values its privacy highly.
Do not place the cat litter box close to their food dish and water bowl. Indeed, a cat is a very hygienic animal and might stop using the litter box.
Clean the litter box regularly. The smell which clings to the litter box itself will thus be removed. The litter box will smell fresh longer.
If you have more than one cat in the house, it is preferable to give each cat its own litter box. In any case make sure that no more than two cats have to use the same cat litter box.
Why not try a clumping variety of cat litter? The smell absorption is excellent and you need less.
Some cats prefer a fine variety of cat litter, whereas others rather have coarse granules. Try out what kind of granules your cat prefers.
If you decide to start using another variety of cat litter, mix the new and the old granules the first few times. In this way it is easier for the cat to get used to a new variety of cat litter.
Cat litter is often multi-purpose. For example it can be used as a bottom layer in cages for birds and rodents, at the bottom of flower pots, for oil-absorption, in the dustbin for smell absorption or in the garden for soil improvement. Read the instructions on the packaging to find out.

Our bit of Cat Litter experience.

The best cat litter so far is the Fussie Cat lemon scented litters. We have tried several clumping brands and found this particular brand very economical (especially when you buy 10 packs you'll get to redeem a pack of the same size for free) and the odor control excellent. The litter leaves very little traces and of course, whenever and wherever you use clumping litters, make sure the surrounding areas are dry. Always make sure the litter boxes are clean at all times and ensure only 2 cats share a litter box at most.

Ayah bought the kids a pair of shirt - a rather statement making shirt that says, I LOVE Daddy. They definitely look stunning in the yellow T-shirt especially Alexander - yellow makes him look really like Stuart Little.

Unfortunate for Napoleon, the shirt was a bit tight fitting but he still manage to put it on ahahaha.

Constantine can just see his siblings new t-shirt as he is too small to try on. The only girls who tried was Gabby - we're planning to get another T-shirt for the girls soon. So Isabelle, Gabby and Vicky, wait ahhhh...

We've started since July shpping for our kids' supply from an online pet shop - Buddy Pet Wagon. We previously shopped at Pet Safari, requiring us to travel quite a distance, go through sometimes heavy traffic and packed parking spaces at Ikea, and carrying the stuff we bought from our parking lot to our 8th floor condo unit. Imagine doing this monthly - it could just be too much sometimes. Having to carry a 9Kg bag of Iams, 8 bags of 5 liters Fussy Cat Clumping litter sand. 30 cans of 250ml canned food and some other stuff like conditioning tables and what not.

With Buddy Pet Wagon, things are so much easier for us - the stuff is just ordered online, paid online and they will send the supply to you once the payment is cleared - always in a jiffy - very convenient minus the hassle of carrying heavy loads up to the unit.

The operator, Julienne Seet is very friendly too. Twice, she delivered my orders personally (Well Julienne, consider this free advertising for you for a job well done! Thank you!) Moreover with purchases over RM55, delivery is free. If she does not deliver herself, she would use the Kangaroo Express - also very efficient! And guess what, the prices are not too far off compared to those on the shelf and moreover, every purchase entitles you to a point where when accumulated can be exchanged for supplies AND on top of that you also get a good discount from your purchase. This is something special as I don't get this elsewhere. They have member cards in Pet Safari and Pets Wonderland but it seems discounts are given only for selected items at Pet Safari and at Pets Wonderland, worse - I just don't know what the card's for anymore.

For our first purchase we bought the Hagen/CATit Water Fountain for only RM87 when at Pet Safari it's over RM100 - same size, same brand, what more can I say? We also bought the Hagen?CATit Cat Spa for RM45 - and yes, you're right, the same item at a more expensive price at Pet Safari, a CATit Regular Sized littler box with hood and two scratch pads (One we got for free for spending over RM100).

Julienne was fast to add the Fussy Cat Clumping Litter as I have requested (the one we have been using the past year and recommends to everybody), so we purchase everything from Buddy Pet Wagon except for the children's conditioning tablets and canned food which we purchase together with our grocery every month.

Renovation Completed

Hello..

The blog today marks the completion of the renovation to the house. Laminated flooring and new paints makes the house looks cozier with dashes of brown colour. At first, doubts circles our minds as to see if the colour fits the new flooring. Finally, we saw that it really matches everything. One week of hard work and tireless effort has paid off! Boarding for the Unlucky Trio

On sunday, three of the kids were sent to the petshop at Bukit Antarabangsa for boarding. The reason is that the house will be on renovation on the following week to install laminated flooring. To ensure the kids are comfortable as we plan to lock the remaining 4 left at home in their room we decided to send these trio for boarding. Other than that, it is also to prevent from 'unnecessary' helping the installer. So, after much consideration, 3 of them were chosen; Gabby, Hercules and Napoleon, based on their sizes, level of helpfulness and of course their hyperactivity.

Upon reaching the petshop, Hercules was the one who made noise all the way from home. I think maybe because of the previous experience of him in a cage that ended up in a vet and getting the shots. Hehehe.. The cage, located at the front of the shop is where they are put. All of them didn't like the idea. Gabby were hissing to others, Hercules making the loudest noise and Napoleon getting himself as low as possible to hide from others. It's kinda sad since this is their first experience out of home and in a cage. But, this is for their own good too.

Anyway, the flooring process were completed within a day (which we earlier expected to be done in 2 days). Today, they will be taken back to our hands and to our "new" home. Hehehe.. New home. Not yet, still got some painting to be done. Anyway, enjoy some photos of the kids at the petshop.

Dearest Troy in Memory - One of his last photos taken

Dear Son,

Only God knows how much we miss you. Whenever we look at Hercules, we'll definitely remember dear you. How loving you were towards him. He's a grown up strong black kitty now you know - thanks to your taking care of him, he is now as loving as you are towards our youngest, Constantine.

We didn't write this earlier, not because we have forgotten you but we were bogged down renovating the house for your other siblings to live comfortably. Yes, we have done a lot to the house and many changes has taken place butthe one little spot of love you left in both our hearts and of course your collar and tag still hung in the car with bro Sid's. It shall remain there till the end of our lives.

Dear Troy,

We're sure you remember Gabby, your sis - the one who took care of you. After you left, she hasn't really been the same. No matter how many other kids we brought home, she never treated them like she treated dear you. We're sure she misses you as much too.

Funny Troy that we really miss you attacking and sucking our earlobes. You're definitely one of a kind.

Abah and Ayah hope you'll take good care of your self. Do send our love to Sidney up there in Rainbow Bridge. Do pray for our well being and the well being of your siblings at home.

Abah has never told you this but I was really sad when you left even though I didn't cry that night of September 1, 2006. Abah was so shocked and disappointed with myself for not taking you to the vet earlier, for ignoring your symptoms. Sometimes I blame myself for your passing. If only I had been more sensitive. Seeing Ayah that night was devastating, the way you left us on his lap, the way you breathed your last breath. I kept seeing that moment over and over again and I promise to myself that I won't let that happen again to anyone of us, to Ayah and to rest of our children. I'm sorry Troy.

Toilet Training Your Loved Ones

Of all the kitties, Constantine is the easiest to toilet train.. err litter train. Hehehehe. It was just putting the litter box in his cage (he has to be caged for now until he's big enough to walk freely around the house without exposing himself to potential dangers), he pooed on the towel we left for him in the cage once... I scooped it into the litter box and wah la he's automatically toilet trained after that.

For the rest of our babies, it didn't take much effort either but it was really a task for Napoleon - well we couldn't blame him as he was an outdoor cat before, so when he got to his new home, he liked to poo under the side table near the sofa - for about 2 weeks we suffered the misery of poo smell and having to scrub clean the spot and thank goodness he's well behaved thereafter. I did not follow any of the methods mentioned below but I guess it could help those who are planning to train their adorable kitties to use the litter box for the first time. It is especially true that cats love their litter boxes clean. Just like us humans, we always choose a clean toilet to do our stuff, so do they. I remember once, with 4 cats in the house (Isabelle, Hercules, Gabby and Alexander) we had 2 litter boxes for them; 1 box per 2 cats) all was fine until we brought Victoria home from the SPCA. Gabby began frantically urinating near the front door - we thought she was protesting for bringing another kitty home but eventually we learn that 2 litter boxes aren't enough for a household with 5 cats. So we bought another box and things were fine again. Looks like we have to get another one for when Constantine grows up later!

Read on for tips on how to train your little ones to use the litter box.

If cats are so independent and resistant to training, how do they ever learn to use a litter box? In fact, no matter what your rug would tell you, your cats are naturally inclined to use litter boxes. All it takes is a little bit of training and a regular cleaning schedule, and your cat will be a litter box champ. First, a little background: Your cat's instincts will help the training process. Although they may seem willing to relieve themselves anywhere, cats have strong preferences that favor a well-maintained litter box. First, cats want to find a loose, soil-like surface on which to relieve themselves. Second, they prefer to relieve themselves in a clean spot. A cat's preference for soil-like surface makes the litter box more attractive than a rug or a sofa (so far, so good), but large planters, sandboxes and other spots can give your litter box competition. Especially when you are training your cat, try to block access to surfaces that might compete with the kitty litter for your cat's attention. Even if your litter box provides the only soil-like surface in the house, your favorite rug may become a kitty latrine if the kitty litter and the litter box are not cleaned regularly. Kitty litter should be cleaned every day. And the box should be cleaned at least once a week to remove offensive odors. When cleaning the box, you can use water with a bit of lemon juice or bleach to carry away smells. Note: Most experts recommend that your house have at least one litter box per cat, so that each cat will almost always have a clean spot to go in. Your cat will prefer that the litter box be far from his bed. If the two are too close, your rugs are in jeopardy again. Now, on to the training: Since your cat should naturally gravitate to the litter box, your training objective is really just a matter of helping your cat to discover the box. Start by getting to know your cat's elimination schedule. He probably relieves himself after waking, after eating and after exercise. Mealtimes are the easiest for you to track, so after feeding him either lead him to the litter box, or pick him up and place him in it. When he is in the box, stroke and praise your cat so that he will remember the litter box as a clean, happy place. If your cat does not relieve himself in 10 minutes, wait another half hour or so and repeat this exercise. Be sure to praise him when he relieves himself in the box. It may take a while for your cat to use the litter box reliably, so keep the training going for a week. Remember to keep praising, keep cleaning and have a little patience with the learning process.

Introducing Constantine: the Really Cute Little Paw

I don't know why for the last few weeks I have been looking around for another cat; this time I was sure I wanted a kitten, preferably an orange coloured one. Well, actually the urge started when we went to visit SPCA and saw, no, not an orange kitten but a black 3 - 4 months old kitten - medium haired, pretty eyes and wanted to adopt it. What stopped me was the idea of parting with RM150 when my wallet was as empty as my bank account. So hehehehe and there I had to abandon the idea of another cat, for the time being.

When we went to buy our kids' monthly supplies at Pet Safari, the IPR was having an adoption campaign so I thought, why not? We've adopted three from them before and the kids are all as healthy as a horse. We saw one we liked, an orange coloured kitten about a month old or maybe less. Very unfortunate for us, the kid was booked. So there we go again empty handed.

A couple of weeks after, I had to fly to Langkawi on work assignment. 3 days 2 nights and when Ayah picked me up from the airport - taadaa! There was this box with the cutest looking kitten I've ever seen. We named him Constantine - a saviour!

Constantine was adopted together with 6 of his other siblings from the Makcik Cleaner at Ayah's office. The other five was adopted by Ayah's office mates and they each paid RM100 for each of the six darlings. I was so happy and delighted for this surprise and even though Constantine isn't really orange (he's actually Brown) he is a God's gift.

Constantine is about 3 weeks old, with very strong legs and learning, really learning to use his teeth. We feed him cat's milk as well as mashed Iams mixed with canned food for kittens. Well, it's about time that we have a new addition to the family and with Constantine in, we now have 7 healthy kids.

Hercules was very excited to have a new brother. from the very beginning he had not a problem with the boy. The rest are beginning to get along well with the boy and I guess he's already being accepted there. Today marks the 1st week Constantine is with us. We really hope that Constantine will grow a healthy boy and will fit in well with the rest of our kids. Welcome dear.

A Letter to our Son Sidney

To our dearest Sidney,

A year has gone since you left us to be at the Rainbow Bridge. We hope you're happy and doing well there with brother Troy and fellow friends. There was never a moment that we had forgotten you. You are dearly missed, Sid. For a year we have been carrying your collar with us wherever we go, so that both you and Troy would be close to us, watching us from up above.

Dearest Son, Sid,

Our love for fur balls started with you. From that moment we fell in love with you at SPCA and decided to adopt you until you left us in misery because of leukemia and FeLV, you have brightened every second of our lives. From there we started having more kids like you. We vow to take good care of them as you have taken good care of us. Too bad you've only met sis Gabby before you left but we're sure you're now very close friends with Troy. Sid, after Gabby and Troy, we have adopted many more like you. They're Isabelle, Victoria II, Hercules, Alexander, Napoleon and now Constantine.

How we wish to have you back with us. We talk about the good times we've had with you almost all the time. How you were so very obedient and loving towards us. Those were the best times of our lives, Sid. We can't help but cry while writing this to you but we do hope you're happy wherever you are. Take good care of yourself and li'll bro Troy. We assure you Sid, that no matter how many other fur balls we have, you'll remain our favorite and we'll never forget you.

Pray for your daddies and keep a watchful eyes on us and your other siblings. You're greatly and dearly missed by all.
